NCEA Level 1 Drama
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Teresa Callaghan.
In this course you will develop both your creation and performance skills in Drama.
You will experience and learn about a wide range of forms and styles of theatre. This knowledge will support you in creating and performing your own portfolio of work by the end of the course.
Alongside building your skills in performance, directing and devising, you will expand your collaboration skills, build confidence and create strong creative relationships with others.
The course provides a solid knowledge and introduction to acting if you are a ‘first-timer’ and will also extend you if you have had previous experience on stage. Your performances will be shown both in class and publicly throughout the year.
Recommended Prior Learning
It will have been beneficial to have already taken a Junior Drama option or to be already performing outside of school.
Course Costs
A small Course Contribution covers the cost of offsite activities. This will support opportunities to extend NCEA learning with visits to live performances and/or attend specialist workshops in school.
