NCEA Level 1 Social Studies
Course Description

This year-long course builds on student skills from the junior Social Science programme and introduces key skills and content needed for Level 2 NCEA subjects. The course also combines skills and concepts from Media Studies and Psychology.
The hub of the course is examining social media in order for students to describe and evaluate social movements, perspectives, representation and responses globally and in Aotearoa.
Students will also have the opportunity to participate and evaluate their participation in a social action with either a global, or local context.
Recommended Prior Learning
Year 10 Social Studies of advantage but not compulsory - Year 9 or 10 Media Studies also acceptable.
