NCEA Level 2 Vocational Development Studies

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Drew McWhinnie.

In Vocational Development Studies we will help you become work-ready, whether you are looking for part-time work while studying, or preparing yourself for the world of work post-school.

All Vocational Development Studies students will build their employability competencies by completing the Youth Employability Programme - Licence to Work (YEP).

The YEP incorporates skill-building workshops, voluntary service, and work experience placements, which all focus on building young people’s skills in the seven employability competencies that employers have identified as most important.

Along with employability skills, the topics covered in the Vocational Development Studies course will teach you how to create a C.V., set career goals, and gain a learner's driving licence.

This course could lead to further tertiary study and/or transition into employment in the customer service industry.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students will be expected to enrol in the Gateway Programme in order to complete the work experience requirement of this course, and be prepared to take part in volunteering events.
