03ENG

NCEA Level 3 English

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Tim Nicholson.

There are two English courses: 03ENA (Academic) and 03ENG (General).  Placement in the courses will depend on the grades you achieve in Level 2 English.

In these courses, we will continue to develop English skills from previous years and explore how and why writers and directors communicate their messages the way they do.

This will relate to the development of characters, themes, relationships, conflicts and more.

We will also continue to develop the ability to express ideas and understanding of texts in a variety of ways.

Both written and visual texts will be used as guides to assist with this.

Recommended Prior Learning

You need to have achieved at least 10 credits in Level 2 English to qualify for 03ENG.

You need to have achieved at least four Level 2 English standards with a minimum of two being at Merit or above to qualify for 03ENA.
