Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Richard Beeston.
This course explores the promotion and safety for self, others and society, looking at New Zealand and World views.
We study a variety of topics including Ethical issues, NZ Health issues, Health practices, as well as Poverty and related issues. Focus is on Self, Others and Society, interrelating with Health Principles.
We develop an understanding of lifestyle, economic, social, cultural, political and environmental influences, and strategies for change.
Contexts may include: drug education, ethical issues, health practices and poverty including disease, life expectancy and reproductive health.
Recommended Prior Learning
You should have at least 10 credits in both Level 2 Health, and at least 10 credits in Level 2 English.
If you wish to take this subject and did not take Level 2 Health, you will need to see the Teacher in Charge for approval.
Course Costs
This Course Contribution covers the cost of offsite activities (including travel), and guest speakers.
Students will also require a 60-page Clearfile.
