NCEA Level 3 Product Design
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Nirtika Niranjan.
This is an academic and practical based course where we will investigate and address current issues and problems that need to be solved through the testing of ideas, modelling and prototyping.
We have the opportunity to develop individual solutions, working alongside chosen clients and a range of stakeholders.
Using the design process we will successfully manufacture a product that will address the requirements of the brief and specifications, at the same time recording all the technological evidence and processes we have followed.
Product design leads to tertiary diploma and/or degree courses, technical apprenticeships, and working in the building and manufacturing and design industries.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students should have at least 12 credits from either Level 2 Product Design, Level 2 Design & Visual Communication or Level 2 Fashion & Design.
Previous participation in a Visual Arts subject is preferred, and/or an interview with the Head of Department of Technology.

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
