Year 9 Social Studies
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Tracey Derbyshire.
Year 9 Social Studies has three main topics.
Firstly, students will explore the concept of the right to movement, looking at immigration policies used during Chinese migration and our Government's response to the 2001 Tampa Refugee Crisis.
In topic two, students will debate sports and ethics, studying the 1981 Springbok Tour and use of doping at international events like the Olympics.
Finally, we have our Extreme Natural Event topic, where students will learn about how disasters impact people and places, and how we can respond effectively.
This is a CORE subject.
Course Costs
Students will require a 1B5 exercise book.
