Course Description

Take the first step in learning te reo Māori. Whether you are an absolute beginner, or have some prior knowledge - this course is for you!
In Year 9 you will learn the basics in pronunciation, and basic sentence structures. You'll be able to use formal and informal greetings, introduce yourself, and recite your whakapapa (genealogy).
You will learn a language that is regularly used throughout Aotearoa.
Nō reira, hikina te manuka! Ākona te reo Māori! Take up the challenge! Learn the Māori language! Karawhiua! Go for it!
COURSE LENGTH: Half Year (One Semester)
MAKING YOUR LANGUAGE CHOICES
- All Year 9 students are required to choose a language other than English as one of their FOUR half-year options.
- Year 9 students need to rank their language course choices in order of preference.
- Green Bay High School will try to accommodate first preferences where possible, but due to timetable, resourcing and staff constraints other preferences may be necessary.
