Course Description

Understanding the impact of our food choices on our wellbeing is essential for life.
This course covers a wide range of skills that will improve your proficiency in cooking, develop your understanding of safe food preparation, and apply knowledge of nutrition.
1. We have a focus on fast food and its implication for our health and wellbeing, learning how to adapt recipes to improve their nutritional value.
2. You will have the opportunity to develop your creativity and individuality through creating your own food product.
We will develop many skills that employers are looking for. These include the ability to work in teams, good communication skills, resilience, good self-management skills, and thinking skills.
This course is designed to help you gain skills and knowledge in food and nutrition, and prepare yourself for both NCEA Level 1 Food and Nutrition and Level 1 Hospitality.
