Year 10 Photography
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Rogan James.
This course is designed to help you gain skills and knowledge in the Visual Arts, and prepare you for the NCEA Level 1 Visual Art courses offered at Year 11.
You will develop an understanding of a range of Photographic processes starting with the Photography Darkroom. You will learn how to create images without a camera using an enlarger and 'black & white' photography techniques. You will construct your own Pinhole Camera and learn how to use these to 'shoot' a range of Pinhole photos.
In the second half of the semester you will learn how to use a digital camera, plan your shoots around photography conventions and how to use specialist studio lighting equipment. Students will develop an understanding of the Adobe suite programmes including Photoshop, in addition to file management and printing processes on the Art department computers.
In today's increasingly visual world, having an understanding of how to compose an aesthetically pleasing photograph is incredibly important for a range of digital career options. As well as making your social media feed look awesome!!
In Year 10, students can take both Art options (Year 10 Visual Art and/or Year 10 Photography).
