Year 9 Digital Technologies is designed to prepare students for Year 10 Digital Technologies. This course encompasses a wide variety of skills and will develop students' knowledge in computer science, programming, digital media (animation and image editing), and electronics.


Pixel Wizard: Unleashing Creativity through Image Manipulation

  • Image Manipulation is when images are enhanced, manipulated, altered or modified in a way that’s pleasing to our eyes or to obtain a certain effect for certain reasons / goal objectives we have in mind.

App Innovators: Transforming Ideas into Interactive Experiences

  • Game Lab is a programming environment where you can make simple animations and games with objects and characters that interact with each other.

Digital Sculptors: Crafting Captivating 3D Character Designs

  • Through hands-on projects and engaging exercises, students will delve into the core concepts of 3D design. They will embark on an exciting journey of creating and manipulating three-dimensional digital objects. they will explore the importance of aesthetics, composition, and storytelling in 3D design, enabling them to create visually appealing and impactful designs.

Electronics Unleashed: Exploring Innovation with the Micro:bit

  • The Micro:bit is a powerful and versatile microcontroller that opens up a world of possibilities for creative exploration and programming. Students will be introduced to the basics of programming with the Micro:bit. They will learn how to write and execute code using Python, enabling them to control the Micro:bit's various features and sensors. From lighting up LEDs and creating animations to reading sensor data and interacting with external components, students will discover the endless potential of the Micro:bit.

Animating Imagination: Bringing stories to life through animation

  • Animation is a captivating art form that brings stories and characters to life through movement and visual storytelling. In this course, students will embark on a creative journey into the world of animation, learning the techniques and principles used by industry professionals. Throughout the course, students will explore the fundamentals of animation, including timing, spacing, squash and stretch, anticipation, and more. They will dive into the principles of character animation, understanding how to create believable movement, express emotions, and convey narratives through their animated characters.

The art of Artificial Intelligence: Exploring creativity in Machines

  • Students learn how artificial intelligence is used to create pictures, music, and stories. They discover what generative adversarial networks (GANs) are and how to with identifying “deepfakes”.  After creating their own art using AI, students finish the program by discussing how AI can be used responsibly by all.
