Year 10 Learning Enrichment
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Sylvie Howell.
This course is by INVITATION ONLY to those students who demonstrate the potential of high ability in one or more learning domains.
This course builds on the thinking and learning skills introduced to students in Year 9 LEO.
The Year 10 course focuses on developing philosophical and critical thinking skills while exploring real world issues.
The course begins by re-introducing philosophy concepts covered in brief in the Year 9 LEO course, then advances into ethical dilemmas, debate and decision-making concerning a range of topics.
Debate topics will be selected by consultation with students to help ensure they appeal to domains of interest.
Progress will be measured by an improvement in their debating skills and their use of ethical frameworks in social decision making. Students will also engage in an exploration of creativity and the importance of it in our world today.
