Te Reo Māori is the key to understanding the Māori world. Te Reo Māori lays the foundation of communicative skills and cultural knowledge to enable students to be bilingual and bicultural with an appreciation and consideration of a Māori worldview.
In this course you will communicate about the vitality of the language before 1970 and identify key historical factors and their impact on Te Reo Māori.
You will demonstrate correct use of vocabulary, identify and demonstrate features of oral language fluency and fluidity.
You will also learn to identify and demonstrate a variety of strategies to communicate in the target language.
Recommended Prior Learning
You will have completed Year 9 and/or Year 10 Te Reo Māori and have an interest in the course, OR the approval of the Head of Department of Languages.
