NCEA Level 2 Design and Visual Communication

Course Description

Students will extend their knowledge about how to communicate visually using a range of drawing methods, physical and digital modelling techniques and computer design programs. 

They will explore the design process in detail to learn how to develop creative and effective solutions to design problems. The course will cover specialist information in the areas of both product design for example wearable technology and spatial (architectural) design for example small buildings like a food kiosk.

This course leads on to Level 3 Design & Visual Communication where students will be able to develop their own major project choosing between the areas of product design or spatial design.

Recommended Prior Learning

Students should have at least 12 credits in Level 1 Design and Visual Communication, OR gain the approval of the Head of Department of Technology.
